On most production lines the brake setting is performed with the brake system unfilled. Therefore there is a reluctance to move the caliper lever through its maximum travel to avoid damage to the internal piston seal. In addition there is also a possible difficulty in that the self adjustment mechanism inside the caliper might be activated. The consequence of these conditions require the 'blocking' of the lever so that maximum lever travel is limited to less than 3mm.
The tool illustrated shows such a blocking feature. The load on the caliper lever is transferred through the blocking feature directly to the cable abutment so that none of the scragging load is present on the CLAVIS tool itself.
